SAS Test Centre

Our Test Centre provides a distraction and barrier free space to registered SAS students who are in need of testing accommodations. If you have test accommodations approved for the current semester, and you want to apply them to an in-person quiz, test or exam, you must book with the Test Centre. Please review all booking deadlines.

During final exams, some exams may be administered in alternative locations. Students should monitor their UofG email for details close to the exam date.

Important Test Centre Information

  • Students are responsible for booking all tests and exams before the deadline
  • In order to write in the Test Centre on campus, students muse make a booking request at least 10 days in advance, and no later than March 1 (winter), July 1 (summer) or November 1 (fall)
  •  Students must also make requests for every test/exam by requesting accommodations. Students who do not request test/exam dates before the deadline, will be asked to write with the class.
  • To make a booking, you’ll need to know the date, starting time, length (in minutes) and the format of the exam (i.e. in-class, practical, etc.). Check your course outline for these details.
  • Please remember to bring everything you need: pen, pencil, eraser, calculator, headphones (if approved as an accommodation)
  • The testing centre follows the Undergraduate Degree/Diploma Regulations and Procedures for Examinations as outlined in the Diploma Calendar. Students writing tests/exams with the SAS Testing Centre must be aware of their responsibilities.
  • Students will be requested to present their student card each time they write a test/exam.
  • Students will be asked to leave all personal belongings outside the testing centre. No unauthorized material will be granted in the room.
  • Please arrive early for your scheduled test/exam. At no time will a student be granted to start their test before the scheduled time.
  • If a student arrives late for their scheduled test/exam, the time will not be extended. As a result, the student will forfeit that time.
  • Do not come to campus, if you are sick, have symptoms or have been advised to stay home. Notify your instructors of your absences.

In the case of inclement weather, all tests booked in the SAS Test Centre will be rescheduled to a later date and in consultation with the course instructor. Watch for an email from rcsas@uoguelph.ca for updates.

Under what circumstances can I change the time of my exam?

If you require a change in the exam time due to disability, contact your advisor (rcsas@uoguelph.ca) early in the semester. Changes to exam times must be supported by disability documentation and must be approved by your instructor by the exam booking deadline. It is a student’s responsibility to make this request to their SAS advisor and instructor in time to meet the deadline.

How do I know that I’ve booked my exam properly?

When you’ve booked a test, you can view it in the SAS portal under current bookings.  Check that the date, time, and length are correct prior to the booking deadline.  Incorrect bookings will be cancelled.

When will I be writing?

You can check the Current Bookings in the SAS portal for the time and date of all tests you have booked with the test centre. Students are expected to write at the same start time as the class, and extra time is usually added to the end of your writing time.

If adding time would extend your exam past 4:30 pm, your extra time will be added to the beginning of your writing time, and you will start writing earlier than the rest of your class.

What if my extra time conflicts with a lab or another midterm?

You need your instructor’s permission by the test booking deadline to write at a different start time or different day than the class.
