About the Role
The University of Windsor Animal Care Facility is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team. This role is vital in supporting the university’s commitment to high-standard animal ethics and scientific integrity. You will work primarily with rodents, with the potential to support our aquatic programs.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care & Husbandry: Provide daily health monitoring, feeding, and specialized care for research animals.
Biosecurity: Maintain strict adherence to facility biosecurity protocols to ensure a pathogen-free environment.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities strictly follow Animal Use Protocols (AUPPs), CCAC, and Provincial guidelines.
Clinical Support: Assist with technical procedures, health interventions, and maintaining accurate medical and colony records.
Weekend Rotations: Participate in weekend care shifts to ensure continuous animal welfare.
Requirements
Certification: Must be a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing.
Health & Safety: Valid Rabies vaccination is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Experience: Previous experience with rodents is preferred.
Attributes: Strong communication skills, a high level of accountability, and a "welfare-first" mindset.
