Facility Rules & Etiquette

Our Commitment to a Positive Environment

The Ridgetown Wellness & Recreation Centre is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members, guests, students, staff, and visitors. We ask everyone to treat others with courtesy, respect, and professionalism at all times.

As part of the University of Guelph community, RWRC follows applicable university policies and procedures, including the University’s Code of Conduct. Repeated or serious violations of facility expectations may result in suspension or termination of facility access or membership privileges.

General Facility Guidelines

  • Be mindful of those around you and help create a positive atmosphere for everyone.
  • Harassment, abusive language, discrimination, intimidation, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
  • Please share equipment and activity spaces fairly during busy periods.
  • Return all equipment to its designated storage area after use.
  • Help keep the facility clean by wiping down equipment and disposing of garbage properly.
  • For everyone’s comfort, please maintain good personal hygiene and wear clean workout attire.
  • Personal filming or photography should be brief, respectful, and limited to your own workout or activity.
  • Recording must not disrupt others or capture members, staff, or visitors without their consent.
  • Tripods or large recording setups are not permitted.
  • Photography, video recording, and FaceTime or video calls are prohibited in changerooms and washroom areas.
  • Appropriate athletic attire is required throughout activity spaces.
  • Clean, indoor, non-marking athletic shoes must be worn in all fitness and gymnasium areas.
  • Outdoor footwear should not be worn in activity spaces.
  • Bags and personal belongings should be stored in lockers or designated storage areas where available.
  • Lockers are for day use only.
  • Members are encouraged to bring their own lock.
  • The RWRC and the University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
  • Lost and found items may be turned into the front desk.
  • Please exercise within your own abilities and comfort level.
  • If you are unsure how to safely use equipment, ask a staff member for assistance.
  • Glass containers are not permitted.
  • Smoking, vaping, cannabis use, alcohol, and illegal substances are prohibited within the facility.
  • Food may only be consumed in designated areas.
  • Stay hydrated and take breaks as needed.
  • Please report injuries, unsafe conditions, or damaged equipment to RWRC staff immediately.
  • Arriving early for registered programs or classes is encouraged to allow time for setup.
  • If you need to leave a class early or have an injury or accommodation request, please inform the instructor before class begins.
  • Please clean and return all shared equipment after use.
  • Dangerous or inappropriate use of equipment will not be tolerated.
  • Registered program participants are encouraged to cancel as early as possible if unable to attend.
  • Late cancellations and no-shows may be subject to program-specific policies or fees.

 

Emergencies

  • In an emergency, notify RWRC staff immediately.
  • First Aid supplies and trained staff are available on site.
  • In the event of a fire alarm or evacuation, follow staff directions and proceed to the nearest safe exit.
