Description

We are looking for a graduating student or recent graduate who is interested in building a long-term career in farm operations. The position is intended for an ambitious individual who has the potential to develop into a Barn Manager or Farm Manager.

The wage starts at approximately $30.00 per hour, depending on the applicant’s education, practical experience and demonstrated abilities. On-farm housing may also be available.

At G.W.G. Heeg Farms, we believe that strong farm managers should understand every level of the operation. The successful candidate would work directly with the owners and our farm team while gaining practical experience throughout the business.

The position may provide exposure to:

Dairy and barn operations

Herd health, feeding, reproduction and animal care

Employee supervision, scheduling and training

Farm machinery and field operations

Maintenance and construction projects

Recordkeeping and regulatory requirements

Purchasing, cost control and farm-business decisions

Planning, problem-solving and operational leadership

We are not expecting a new graduate to know everything on their first day. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, practical judgment, leadership potential and a genuine desire to learn.
