Tillvalley Ag Services is a Pioneer Hi-Bred seed dealer offering custom application and agronomy services across Southern Ontario. We are seeking a motivated Agronomy Assistant to join our team for the 2026 growing season. This is an excellent opportunity for an agriculture student to gain hands-on experience in agronomy, crop scouting, and the seed industry.
Position Overview
As an Agronomy Assistant, you will work directly with an experienced independent agronomist, supporting day-to-day operations and learning the ins and outs of the Pioneer seed business. You will play a key role in field scouting, agronomy research, data collection, and customer support.
Key Responsibilities
· Scout fields to assess crop establishment, weed pressure, insect and disease issues.
· Operate a scouting drone to capture field imagery and observations.
· Prepare digital reports, photos, and updates for review with the agronomist.
· Assist with setting up and maintaining field-scale agronomy plots.
· Support data collection and plot maintenance throughout the growing season.
· Aid in spring warehouse operations – preparing customer orders, managing inventory, making short deliveries, and inoculating seed.
· Perform additional agribusiness tasks including soil/nitrate sampling, field signing, data entry, and basic bookkeeping.
Qualifications
· Currently enrolled in or recently completed an agriculture or related field diploma or degree program.
· Working knowledge of common farm practices.
· Ability to work independently, read maps, and follow detailed directions.
· Strong computer skills and ability to operate (or quickly learn) Apple devices.
· Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
· Experience operating a forklift or tractor is considered an asset.
