June 5, 2020

Dear Ridgetown Campus Student,

Graduation is where your long days and hard work begins to pay off, a day to celebrate your accomplishments with family, friends and fellow students. We sincerely regret that we cannot host this very special event as all large gatherings have been cancelled including your June 5, 2020 graduation ceremony. We want to thank you for your determination to complete the winter academic semester despite the adversity presented by COVID-19. Be proud of your academic achievement and success!

As we move forward here are some important graduation related activities, as highlighted below:

Graduation Celebration
  • Moving forward, as we cannot host you on campus, we will be creating a "Celebration in a Box", that will be shipped to you when all of the pieces can be gathered, most likely in mid-July
  • We will be including each graduates’ parchment, congratulatory letters, graduation award(s) (if applicable), and a few small surprises
Graduation Awards Program
  • Campus donors have continued to support the Graduation Awards Program and award winners have been selected and will be notified by email with award distribution details
Dr. Ron Pitblado Teaching Award of Excellence
  • Continuing a graduation tradition, we will be recognizing one of our teaching staff with this special award celebrating their teaching excellence
Class of 2020 Valedictorian Comments
  • In the next few weeks, we will be working with Robbie Jackson, your Class of 2020 valedictorian. Robbie will be sharing some of his thoughts about the Class of 2020 and the Ridgetown experience
Graduation Parchment Frames
  • If you’d like to order a frame, the order form is available online. All orders will be shipped directly to your home
Graduation Photos
  • If you had your grad photos taken by Beta Photos, they will be mailed directly, by Beta, to the address you provided as soon as they can
Class of 2020 Yearbooks
  • When complete, your 2020 yearbook will be directly mailed to you

If you have any questions about the individual items discussed above, please email our Interim Graduation Committee Chair, Liz Meidlinger at emeidlin@uoguelph.ca with your questions.

Best Wishes Going Forward

I want to wish you each continued success. I believe your proven drive and commitment will help you and those around you through this most challenging time in our recent history.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed your Ridgetown Campus student experience, whether you were studying in Ridgetown and/or in Clinton, and that you will stay connected with your campus in the future.

Kindest Regards,

Ken McEwan, Director, University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus
