Regulation
914 under the Pesticides Act requires licensed General
Vendors to have an outlet representative. The Outlet Representative
must:
- be employed on a full-time basis;
- be at least 16 years of age; and
- have completed, within the last 60 months, a course approved
by the Director under the Act.
The Pesticide Vendor Certification Course (PVCC) has been
developed for persons involved in selling pesticides to qualify
as outlet representatives. This is a two day course designed
for persons certifying for the first time.
The
two-day course provides information on how to sell, store, and
handle pesticides properly.
Re-certification
Outlet representatives are required to recertify every 5 years by
successfully completing an examination. The following training
options are available to prepare for re-certification:
- attend the one day re-certification course
- attend the two day Pesticide Vendor Certification Course
- self-study and attend the afternoon of the one day
re-certification course to write the exam
The
registration fee of $180 per person is the same for any one of the
above options. This
fee is payable to University of Guelph and will be collected on the
day of the course or exam writing session.
