About Me
Education:
MLIS - Faculty of Information and Media Studies - Western University B.A. Spanish and Latin American Studies Simon Fraser University
Research Interests:
My research interests focus on access to government and advocacy information for citizens and civil society organizations in Canada and Tanzania. I am interested in applied research that can be adopted by the agri-food industry in Ontario. I also research how to improve information flows to villagers in Northern Tanzania from local government. I would like to pursue research to better understand the demands of users accessing information for decision-making in the civil society sector. How can we build and make accessible the information that is public for use and re-use?
Sharing Research Knowledge:
I share my research findings with colleagues, civil sector organizations and the agri-food community through scientific conferences, grower forums and the creation of user centred electronic repositories of research reports and data from Ontario agri-food research. I also look forward to presenting findings at conferences and workshops in the future.
What excites you about your work at Ridgetown?
"Being part of the cycle of building knowledge related to good agricultural practice that meets the needs and concerns of information users is an exciting challenge. Making the links between research, researchers, students and the community is a rewarding job."
Teaching Responsibilities:
Offers workshops and presentations to instructors and students on information access and intellectual property rights
