Industry Certifications & Work Experience Opportunities
Associate Diploma in Environmental Management
| Ministry of the Environment (MOE) – Operator in Training Certification |
- Students in year 2 are eligible to write the MOE Operator in Training (OIT) Certifications in one or more of four categories: water, water treatment, sewage and waste water

| Nutrient Management Planning and Preparation |
- Completed as part of the Nutrient Management elective course
- Students will complete the key learning objectives of the OMAFRA – Fundamentals of Nutrient Management course
- Helps prepare students to prepare their own Nutrient Management Plans

| Semester 4 Industry Placement |
- Completed as part of Environmental Management Externship course
- Students will work in a waste management or water treatment plant - OR - with a conservation authority or conservation group, or related industry
- Four-week industry work placement at the end of the program

| Entry-Level Course for Drinking Water Operators |
- Developed by the Ministry of the Environment (MOE); mandatory for all drinking water operators
- Students who attend the course and graduate from the diploma program will be considered to meet the requirements of the Ministry’s Entry Level course currently being offered by the Walkerton Clean Water Centre
- Offered as an optional one-week course and exam at the end of the semester
