* Definition of Mature Student: 19 years of age or older and out of high school for a minimum of one year. Mature students are not required to hold a high school diploma or equivalent.

English as a Second Language

Assessment Testing

Applicants required to provide evidence of English proficiency must meet one of the following four proficiency requirements:

  1. The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6
  2. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 (paper-based) or 250 (computer-based), and Test of Written English (TWE) with a score 5 (discretionary range of 4.5), and Test of Spoken English (TSE) with a score of 50
  3. The Michigan English Assessment Battery (MELAB) with a minimum overall score of 85 and a minimum composition score of 83. In addition, applicants must present a minimum score on the oral test of three (3)
  4. The Canadian English Language Assessment (CAEL) with a minimum overall band score of 70
